Billing questions

What is an active license?

A license your customers can use right now: paid, in its grace period, or perpetual. Expired, suspended, refunded and revoked licenses don’t count, and neither do machine activations.

What happens if I go over my plan?

Nothing breaks. Limits are soft: your customers’ licenses keep activating and validating. The dashboard shows a warning and we email the account owner. The only hard stop is creating a new product beyond your plan’s product count.

How does yearly billing work?

Pay for 2 fewer months: a yearly plan costs 10 times the monthly price instead of 12. You can switch between monthly and yearly, or between Indie and Pro, at any time from the dashboard. Paddle prorates the change for the rest of the current period.

Do you take a percentage of my sales?

No. Your payment provider charges its own fees; Keyrail only charges the plan price.

How do I pay?

Create a free account, then pick Indie or Pro under Account & usage in the dashboard. Payment happens in a checkout run by Paddle, our reseller and merchant of record: you buy the plan from Paddle, and your card details go to Paddle, never to Keyrail. Plans renew automatically each month or year until you cancel.

Who handles VAT and invoices?

Paddle. Prices are shown excluding taxes; Paddle adds VAT or sales tax at checkout based on your billing location (enter a valid VAT number to have the reverse charge applied where it is available). Paddle issues the invoices, which you can download from Manage billing in the dashboard.

Can I cancel?

Yes, at any time from Manage billing. Your plan stays in force until the end of the period you paid for, then your account returns to Free. Nothing breaks for your customers: their licenses keep working, and if you are over the Free limits you only lose the ability to add products.

Can I get a refund?

Refunds are handled by Paddle under its refund policy. If something went wrong on our side, write to us and we will sort it out with Paddle.

Do you need more than 10,000 licenses?

The Business plan sets custom limits, priority support and a review of our DPA by your legal team. Write to us.
